Safety Health Environment

Sustainability is ensuring that future generations that live on our planet can meet their needs. Any business with a long term outlook must act responsibly to the environment and to society. Our commitment to sustainability is built on the three pillars of Safety, Health, and Environment. We pride ourselves on being a responsible corporate citizen in ensuring a safe, secure, and sustainable world.

We have upgraded our systems and processes to the latest standards and upgraded to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018. We are signatories to the Responsible Care movement and are working to get certified by the end of 2019.

Safety
Given that we handle a large number of products, some of them hazardous, ensuring safety is a critical part of our operations. Safety is a part of each employee’s DNA. The mantra at Solaris is "Safety is not only our priority, it is part of our culture". We have stringent policies to ensure safety standards are met or exceeded in all cases. A detailed assessment has been conducted on hazards and risks involved in manufacturing activities.

We have a safety crisis management team and emergency response team in all our manufacturing locations. Employees are continuously trained and updated on safety methods. Transporters are trained and equipped to handle emergencies during transit of hazardous products. Surprise mock drills are conducted periodically to check our ability to respond to emergency situations.

Health
People are our most important asset and their health and well-being is critical to the growth of our organization. Periodical health checks are conducted for our employees. In addition, employees exposed to certain chemicals undergo special and more intensive health checkups. Each location has a health center that is manned by trained practitioners well versed with the health issues faced in an industry of our nature.

Environment
Climate change is one of the most critical challenges facing the world today. It is our endeavour to minimize the impact of our operations on the environment. Our strategy to ensure this is to:

  • Maximise the use of natural resources which are renewable, including the use of solar energy to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Reduce air pollution through the installation of ESPs and other equipment
  • Improve the efficiency of our manufacturing operations to reduce and eliminate waste and effluents
  • Reduce water usage which is becoming a scarce resource
